Planet Fitness to open new South East Queensland location

Planet Fitness has announced that it will open a new club at the Arndale Shopping Centre in South Brisbane following what it calls a “landmark” lease agreement with mall owners Consolidated Properties Group and CVS Lane Capital Partners.

The 10-year lease for the 1800 metre² tenancy at the Springwood centre, which recently completed a $20 million refurbishment, will see the US-based low-cost fitness 24/7 gym operator opent he new facility by Christmas 2021.

With the Centre’s owners making a multi-million-dollar investment, Consolidated Properties Group Executive Director Craig O’Donnell said Planet Fitness represents a landmark leasing commitment for the centre.

O’Donnell advised “we are excited by the low-cost, high-quality fitness centre that will be available to our customers and are also looking forward to the substantial new customer traffic that will be generated as a result.

“This long-term commitment by a recognised international market leader in fitness is a ringing endorsement of the $20 million investment we have made at the centre in re-establishing it as a modern convenience centre focused on daily shopping needs.

“Planet Fitness is at the top of its game, and we look forward to them establishing a long-term successful operation at Arndale Shopping Centre for the benefit of customers and retailers.”

Tanner Halton, Managing Director of Bravo Fit Pty Ltd, which owns and operates Planet Fitness in Australia, said the company prides itself on providing a high-quality experience at an exceptional value and its ‘Judgement Free Zone’ slogan, which reflects how members experience a non-intimidating environment.

Planet Fitness Arndale Shopping Centre will offer when it opens more than 200 state-of-the-art equipment pieces, the Planet Fitness 30-Minute Express full-body circuit, locker rooms and showers, HydroMassage beds, massage chairs, spray tanning and red light therapy.

The Arndale facility will be open and staffed 24 hours a day from Monday to Friday and between 7am and 7pm on Saturday and Sunday.

The new Planet Fitness lease comes as several tenants including anchor Coles commit to long-term leases.

O’Donnell said he expects the small number of remaining tenancies to be filled in the coming months and urged interested retailers to get in touch with CPG.

Consolidated Properties Group and CVS Lane Capital Partners purchased Arndale Shopping Centre in October 2019.

Planet Fitness has more than 2000 locations around the world.
