The SCV Foundation’s Zonta Club has announced sponsorship of the new Women’s Lounge, which will be featured in Bridge to Home’s new shelter for women experiencing homelessness currently under development.

Zonta’s mission is to empower women and girls through service and advocacy. Zonta is an international organization that works to improve the lives of women around the world. Since 1974, Zonta SCV has assisted local women and girls in issues such as domestic violence, sexual trafficking, education / coaching and women’s health issues. Through community support, clubs have helped vulnerable women gain the power to achieve independence.

While volunteering at Bridge to Home, Zonta members say that the fastest-growing demographics of individuals experiencing homelessness are women, often singles towing children. Plumbing, kitchen and laundry facilities in the new facility give vulnerable women of all ages the opportunity to rebuild their self-esteem and help develop the power needed to put themselves in a new home. This project works synergistically with Zonta’s mission, as many of these women have emerged from the situation of domestic violence and are experiencing serious economic problems as a result.

Zonta’s $ 25,000 donation aims to change the lives of countless women. Zonta’s ability to raise funds has declined significantly during the pandemic, but thanks to careful financial planning and decades of generous community support, this gift is possible.
